About Us
Jadavpur University is a premier public research institution located in Kolkata, India.It has two campuses: the main campus at Jadavpur and a new campus at Salt Lake. The university offers under and postgraduate courses under three faculties- Arts Science and Engineering. Admission is highly competitive, as it consistently ranks amongst the best colleges in India.
As an educational body it started its humble journey as National Council of Education in 1905 and became Jadavpur University in 1955.
JU ranks first among top Engineering and Technology Universities and sixth among the Universities and Institutions in India , second in number of publication and fourth in performance index among the Indian Universities ,according to NISTADS report, 76th among the 100 best Asian universities in the latest Times Higher Education University rankings Report.
The Alumni Association was founded in 1921.
Primary Objectives of the Association are:
- To foster a spirit of comradeship and to promote co-operation and mutual help amongst the ex-students of the National Council of Education, Bengal and Jadavpur University.
- To foster the growth of healthy fellow-feelings, to promote common interest and to maintain a feeling of unity amongst the ex-students.
- To keep the Association in touch with the National Council of Education, Bengal and the Jadavpur University as far as practicable and to render all possible help to the said Institutions in their endeavours and objects.
- To organize and develop the activities of the ex-students of the National Council of Education and the Jadavpur University as far as practicable on matters such as social, economic, educational and philanthropic
Sharing similar objectives, Sydney Chapter of the Jadavpur Alumni was formed in 1994 and with a reasonable strong membership profile continues as a forum for ex- students of this premier institution to meet socially, exchange ideas and reminiscence good days at the university.
